Lesson #21: Email sharing
Tatsuya looked up over his papers as he saw Kazuya run into the room, dragging his stuffed bear behind him. He raised an eyebrow at the excited, happy look Kazuya on his face.
"Tat-Tat!! JinJin found it!" Kazuya declared happily.
"Found what?" Tatsuya asked warily, wondering where the older boy was. Kazuya was rarely seen without Jin after all.
"Found site!" Kazuya pulled at Tatsuya sleeve, "Tat-Tat help!"
Tatsuya looked bewildered as he was dragged up the stairs and...into his study. He raised his eyebrows when he saw the almost four year old sitting at his computer, kneeling on his computer chair as he swivelled around and around.
"JinJin!" Kazuya giggled as he began to climb up on the computer chair to sit next to Jin.
"Careful!" Tatsuya cautioned as he caught Kazuya just before he was about to slip and fall. Kazuya giggled as he was put on the chair next to Jin and he quickly huddled closer to Jin, who wrapped an arm around Kazuya in a hug.
"Did you ask?" Jin whispered not so quietly into Kazuya's ear.
Tatsuya rolled his eyes as Kazuya giggled but shook his head.
"Tat-tat!!" Kazuya shouted and pointed at the computer where Tatsuya could see some sort of anime-like virtual pet site for kids. There were enough pictures in place of words that even Kazuya who didn't know how to read yet could easily decipher, "Want to sign up!" Kazuya pouted, shooting puppy dog eyes at his grandfather.
"Tat-Tat, please??" Jin pleaded.
Tatsuya sighed as he looked at the site, "I'll give you an email to use to sign up with" he said resignedly, "Although...you're only allowed on the computer half an hour each day, got it?" he said pointedly, "You shouldn't even be on the computer at your age"
The two nodded eagerly.
Then Kazuya paused and pouted, "Kazu two! Kazu old 'enough t'have email!" he said with a pout at Tatsuya.
"Kazu..." Jin started.
Kazuya turned imploring, puppy dog eyes on Jin, and his lip quivered as a whimper escaped his lips, "JinJin? Share with Kazu?" he asked pleadingly, in a soft voice, looking up through the bangs partly covering his eyes, "Please?" he asked sweetly with a hint of a just as sweet smile that showed a dimple.
And twenty minutes later, Kazuya was hugging Jin happily as he sat up in what he probably thought was a 'grownup-and-had-his-own-email' way and Tatsuya was wondering why he gave into his grandson and helped these two create their own email.
"Love JinJin!!" Kazuya squealed as he hugged Jin, happy to have something else to share with Jin. And on the computer screen, one line was written on the form of the virtual pet site that Kazuya and Jin wanted to play on.
lovejinjin@yahoo.co.jp
"LOVE JINJIN!!" Kazuya repeated even louder as he clapped happily. Now he had something adult he shared with Jin, and he beamed at Jin, hugging him tightly, "LOVE JINJIN LOTS"
Lesson #22: The Difference Between Jin and Akira
"And then, Kira-kira pushed him away!" Kazuya babbled on excitedly. "Kira-kira is Kazu hero!"
Jin sat next to Kazuya, a dark cloud of angst and jealousy surrounding him. Of course, Kazuya was oblivious to it, since he was more focused on telling Jin how Akira defended him from a bully.
"JinJin?" Kazuya asked, finally noticing the lack of response from the older boy.
Jin refused to acknowledge Kazuya, focusing instead on the ground.
Kazuya, barely up to Jin's shoulder, stepped into his line of sight and peeked up. "JinJin?"
Jin's pout got bigger, and he turned away. "Akira not nice," he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Uh-oh," Yamapi let out, pointing to the direction of the two children. The adults were sitting some distance away.
Tatsuya and Ryo barely gave them a glance. "It'll work out. It always does," Tatsuya said.
"Mm-hmm. My grandson has no backbone when it comes to pretty little things," Ryo muttered, flipping the page of his newspaper.
"But Kira-kira is Kazu best friend," Kazuya said.
Jin stomped his foot and turned completely away from Kazuya.
"JinJin?" Kazuya tried again, tugging on Jin's sleeve. "Why angry?"
Jin did not answer, looking away. If he looked away, he would not see Kazuya's adorable face. Yeah, then, he could stay jealous.
That's right. Avoid eye contact.
"Kazu sorry," Jin heard Kazuya's voice say softly.
Oh no! It sounded like Kazuya was about to cry. Jin had no idea what to do! How can he become deaf? How can he go blind, AND deaf?
Kazuya tugged at Jin's sleeve again. "Kazu sorry, JinJin," he said, widening his eyes that little bit more. And sniffled.
"Oh, I'm sorry Kazu! Don't cry!" Jin cried out, turning to envelope Kazuya a big hug.
Kazuya hugged Jin back, burrowing his face into the older boy's chest. "Kazu sorry."
"It's okay, Kazu. I don't mind. It's okay. Just don't cry?" Jin said, feeling the tears start to fall as well.
Kazu sniffled and looked at Jin. "Kira-kira is Kazu best friend. But Kazu love JinJin. Okay?"
Jin felt like he was flying. "Okay! Akira can be Kazu's best friend. But if he makes Kazu cry, I'll beat him up," he proudly exclaimed.
Kazuya giggled. "Mm! Promise! Because Kazu loveJinJin!"
Jin picked Kazuya up and spun him around, earning him shrieks of laughter.
"It's not as fun to say 'I told you so' after the millionth time," Ryo ruffled Pi's hair.
Lesson #23: Painting Escapades
High pitched giggles could be heard all through the room as Tatsuya kneeled on the plastic covered floor and looked in amusement in the direction of where his grandson and Jin were standing together.
A fond look crossed his face as he saw Jin catch Kazuya right before the toddler fell backwards, stepping on the pant leg of the baby-sized overalls he wore.
"Careful, Kazu" Jin warned.
Kazuya giggled and reached up to poke Jin's nose, "JinJin catch Kazu" he said in a delighted tone of voice.
Jin started to giggle with Kazuya as the toddler stood back up and turned back to the wall.
Kazuya beamed as he took one of the brushes sitting in the tray filled with paint. He dipped it in the paint and with difficulty as he had taken one of the large adult sized brushes that was too big for his little hands to hold onto. then he swiped the bristles of the brush on the wall, leaving a mark.
He laughed delightedly and Jin grinned, watching Kazuya as he attempted to paint, holding onto the brush. The younger boy soon had to hold onto the brush with both hands as he painted along the bottom of the wall, but giggled happily as he looked up at Jin every so often, copying the exact brush strokes Jin was using.
Soon, the section of the wall that Tatsuya had marked off for the toddlers to use was nearly all painted.
"One more spot" Jin pointed out happily and proudly, "We helped Tat-Tat!"
"You sure did" Tatsuya called over, "Just finish that one spot then and we'll get you changed out of those clothes"
"'kay Tat-Tat!" Kazuya chirped happily as he pulled on the sleeve of the overly large shirt Jin wore.
"JinJin~!" he called out.
Jin who had been about to paint that spot since it was a bit higher than Kazuya, looked down, "Kazu-chan?"
"Kazu do it!" Kazuya said, jumping up and down while holding onto Jin's sleeve, "Kazu do it JinJin!"
Jin hesitated.
Kazuya stopped jumping and pouted, looking up at Jin with wide, betrayed eyes, "Kazu...do it..." he whimpered softly. Jin's eyes widened at the telltale sign that Kazuya was about to cry and Jin definitely didn't like it when Kazuya cried.
"'Kay, Kazu-chan do it" Jin said, reaching to try to lift the two year old so that Kazuya could reach the spot. Kazuya however shook his head and stomped his foot, "Kazu do it no help!" he insisted.
Jin pouted, upset that Kazuya didn't want his help but let Kazuya do what he want. The two year old held the brush in both of his tiny hands and jumped up to get the lone unpainted spot on the wall.
He did it happily but as he landed on the floor again, stepped on his pant leg once more and fell backwards. The brush flew up as Kazuya fell backwards and landed on Kazuya.
Kazuya sat up with a whimper and feeling his head, his eyes teared up and he began to cry.
"Kazu, what's wrong?" Tatsuya ran over to where his grandson was crying.
Kazuya rubbed his eyes with his hands, "Kazu have paint on face and hair!" Kazuya cried, "Kazu no want blue hair! No want blue face! Kazu no want!!" he cried, sobbing as though the world was ending. And to Kazuya it was; Tat-Tat had told them that this paint was special and wasn't like the paint Kazuya and Jin used to colour their drawings, and so Kazuya thought that this paint would last forever, "Kazu no want to be blue forever and ever and ever!!"
Tatsuya was not sure whether to slap his hand to his forehead or not. He wisely chose not to, but watched with interest when Jin stepped forward, surprisingly not crying as soon as Kazuya did.
"Kazu-chan" Jin called and Kazuya looked up, peeking through his fingers as he sniffed, obviously still crying.
Tatsuya watched in amusement as Jin took a brush and swiped the wet paint across his forehead as well.
Kazuya stared.
"Now I'm just like Kazu" Jin chirped brightly, "No cry, Kazu; Jin is like Kazu now"
"JinJin" Kazuya who had stopped crying that Jin had doomed himself to have his face and hair streaked with blue. He wiped his eyes and smiled brightly at Jin, "JinJin, LOVE JINJIN!!!" he squealed, jumping at Jin and hugging Jin around the waist, "LOVE JINJIN!"
Lesson #24:Old Habits Die Hard
Kazuya made a face and pushed his plate away. At Tatsuya's raised eyebrow, he pouted and pushed the plate further away.
"Kazuya, eat your vegetables," Tatsuya said, placing the rejected plate of food back in front of the two-year-old.
Kazuya crossed his little arms across his chest. "Don't wanna."
"C'mon, Kazuya. I'm sure it's yummy. And Tat-Tat cooked it especially for you," Junno tried, scooping some vegetables and placing it in front of Kazuya's mouth.
Kazuya almost toppled backwards off his high chair trying to avoid the food.
Luckily, Yamapi decided to enter the kitchen as Kazuya flailed wildly, the high chair balanced precariously on its two hind legs.
"Whoa!" Yamapi exclaimed as he caught the chair. Kazuya stopped flailing.
Tatsuya felt his eyebrow twitch at the sight of Yamapi's face. The younger man looked like he had discovered the meaning of life, or something close to it.
Yamapi released his grip on the chair, letting it wobble. Kazuya began to flail again.
As soon as Yamapi caught the chair, Kazuya stopped waving his little arms wildly in the air.
"OHMYGOD KAZU-CHAN YOU'RE SO CUTE~~!!!!" Yamapi's shrieks resounded through the neighborhood.
Tatsuya gently pried Yamapi's arms off his suffocating grandson. "Yamashita, Kazuya's trying to breathe."
"But he's adorable!" Yamapi cried out, tightening his grip on Kazuya.
The two adults were interrupted from their battle over the toddler when Jin ran into the kitchen.
"Kazu, let's go play!" he yelled happily, barreling directly into the adults.
Kazuya landed back into his high chair with an 'Oof!'.
Yamapi and Tatsuya were locked in a staring battle, both ignoring the children. Junno had gone back to his brand new handheld gaming console.
"Kazu, hurry up and finish your food. We'll go play pirates!" Jin exclaimed excitedly, propping his arms on the armrest of Kazuya's high chair.
Jin expected Kazuya to look at him with a bright smile and agree. What Jin did NOT expect was for Kazuya to stare forlornly at him.
The toddler's eyes started to water and his lips began to tremble.
Uh-oh.
"What's wrong, Kazu?" Jin asked worriedly, praying to the Gods that Kazuya would not start to cry.
Kazuya sniffled. "No play. Kazu no play with JinJin," he said, a big teardrop splashing onto his plate.
"Why not?!" Jin exclaimed, utterly alarmed.
Kazuya stared back at his plate of unfinished food. "Kazu no finish. Kazu no play."
"What didn't you finish?" Jin asked, turning to the toddler's plate.
Kazuya wrinkled his nose and poked at his food. "Tomato. Kazu no like."
"Oh, that's easy!" Jin said, taking Kazuya's fork from his hand.
Jin gave Kazuya a conspiratory wink and sneaked a peek at the adults.
Tatsuya and Yamapi were still glaring at each other. Junno was waving his console around with a manic gleam in his eyes.
At Kazuya's confused look, Jin quickly threw all the tomatoes into his mouth and chewed furiously.
Kazuya's eyes widened. Jin had sacrificed himself to eat the horrible tomatoes for him!
"All done!" Jin proclaimed, opening his mouth wide for Kazuya to see that he had, indeed, finish the food.
Kazuya's eyes started to water again.
Whoa!
Jin had a puzzled look on his face. "What's wrong, Kazu? I ate them all. Now we can go play."
Kazuya extended his arms out. Jin immediately hugged the younger child.
"JinJin best in the world! Kazu love JinJin! LoveJinJin!" Kazuya said, hugging Jin's neck tightly.
Jin laughed, patting the toddler's head. "JinJin love Kazu too!"
Ryo shook his head at the entrance of the kitchen. "I guess old habits die hard. The baka will eat anything for the other baka."
Lesson #25:Four year olds and dating commercials only work when the four year’s old name is Jin
Kazuya peeked out from around the corner, looking curiously into the living room, where Jin had jumped up after a commercial on television and run off screaming Ryo's name.
Hearing Jin scream, Ryo had run into the room, brandishing a frying pan, sure that the two children in his house were being attacked by some sort of sicko with a fondness for toddlers and preschool children and he was probably all gross, ugly and fat and -
Ryo had stopped mid-swing, seeing only Jin and Kazuya there and he paused.
"Don't say it" he had snapped right away to Yamapi who had ventured into the living room after hearing Ryo's war cry of 'LEAVE MY GRANDBABIES ALONE!!!!'.
Ignoring Ryo, Pi had grinned, "You've been watching too many of those cold case murder shows"
Ryo ignored Yamapi and knelt down to Jin, "What're you screaming about, Jin?" he asked, ignoring Yamapi who had gone over to Kazuya to coo over the toddler, and ignored the squeals coming from the young boy.
"Ri-Ri!!" Jin had pulled on Ryo's pant leg and began to pull Ryo in the direction of the living room.
So, now, Kazuya, with the help of Yamapi was looking curiously around the corner at Jin and Ryo who were whispering frantically to each other.
Yamapi suddenly grinned mischievously, since Jin at the tender age of almost-four, was like all children, not very good at whispering quietly. He could hear exactly what Jin was saying and he tried not to laugh aloud.
"Kazu~" he whispered, "Go to Jin" he said, giving the toddler a encouraging little push on the shoulder. Kazuya stared at Yamapi in confusion and tilted his head, "Pi-Pi sure? Ri-Ri and Jin-Jin all secret-ing" he said solemnly.
"I'm sure" Yamapi grinned as he led Kazuya by the hand and then sat back to watch the show.
Jin ran up to Kazuya, "Kazu! I have something to say!"
Just then, Tatsuya walked in and looked on in confusion and then turned to the other two adults, "What's going on?"
"Jin watched a very interesting commercial just now" Yamapi grinned.
Jin stared at Kazuya and then with a nervous look at Ryo, began to speak, quickly falling back on baby speech when he got this nervous, "If Jin-Jin could...um...could...HOLD a...um...a bright shiny thing! -"
"Star" Ryo hissed.
"Star" Jin corrected, "For e...every?" he looked at Ryo for confirmation who nodded, "Every time Kazu-chan made JinJin smile, JinJIn would have...um...uhh...JinJin love Kazu?"
Ryo rolled his eyes in frustration and stalked over to Jin to whisper in his ear, and as Ryo spoke each word, Jin repeated the word aloud.
"JinJin would have entire night sky in his hand" he finished with a dazzling grin at Kazuya, who stared.
Jin looked crestfallen and tears began welling up in his eyes, "Not work, Ri-Ri!" he cried, "Kazu no fall in love with JinJin like on TV!" he cried, "TV LIED to JinJin!"
Kazuya panicked and ran over to Yamapi, hiding behind Yamapi's legs and tugging on Yamapi's pant leg, "Kazu no understand" he whispered, "Kazu no understand what JinJin saying!" he cried hysterically, "Kazu not want JinJin to cry!! Pi-Pi~~" he wailed.
Yamapi grinned and leaned down to whisper in Kazuya's ear. Kazuya's eyes widened as Yamapi spoke.
"OH!!" Kazuya said with a rather adorable expression of dawning realization on his face. He skipped over to the crying Jin, and flung his arms around Jin in a tight hug, "KAZU LOVE JINJIN TOO!" he shouted loudly, and then whispered in Jin's ear, "kazu sorry for not und'standing JinJin" he said mournfully, "Kazu sorry. Jinjin forgive Kazu?"
Jin wiped his tears away and smiled right away, "I would never be mad at Kazu!" he declared.
Kazuya beamed, "LOVE JINJIN!" he declared cutely and happily.
"What I want to know is..." Yamapi wondered, "Why was there a commercial for a phone number to call to get free pick up lines showing on the kids' channel?" he paused.
"I want to know where he got such a sweet pick up line from" Tatsuya pointed at Ryo.
"I'm curious myself" Yamapi crossed his arms and stared at Ryo expectantly.
Ryo shrugged, "I heard Bakanishi say it to Kame once, you know, before..."
There was silence at that.
"by the way, Ryo"
"Yeah?"
"Kazu's not your grandbaby"
"shaddup"
And with that, the three adults settled for watching as Jin carried Kazuya around on his back, laughing shrilly at Kazuya's shrieks of laughter, "Love JinJin!" Kazuya declared again as he hugged Jin's tightly from his spot on Jin's back, "Love JinJin the most~!"
Lesson #26:Love Cookies
Kazuya's eyes shone as he watched Koyama knead the batter. He bounced excitedly on his high chair.
"Ma-ma, wanna put choco! Kazu put choco!" the toddler said excitedly, waving his hands.
Koyama gave the child an indulgent smile. "Okay, okay. Sprinkle the chocolate chips into the dough, Kazu-chan."
Kazuya clambered over to the bowl, picking up chocolate chips from the container and putting them into the mixing bowl.
"That's enough, Kazu-chan," Koyama said, moving to keep the container.
Kazuya was faster, clutching the container to his chest. "But JinJin like choco. Kazu put more."
Koyama sighed as Kazuya put three more handfuls of chocolate chips into the batter.
When he was done, Kazuya clapped his chocolate covered hands happily. "Kazu want eat! Kazu want eat!"
"Only a little bit, alright?" Koyama waved a spoon in front of the child's face. Kazuya nodded happily, a big smile adorning his face.
Koyama scooped up a small portion of the batter and held it to Kazuya, who clamped his mouth around the spoon immediately.
"Yummy, Ma-ma! Yummy!" Kazuya squealed, picking some up and feeding Koyama.
"Mm... Perfect. Now we need to make these into shapes. What should we make?"
Kazuya frowned, thinking hard. "Heart! JinJin like heart," Kazuya said, reaching for the heart-shaped mould.
Koyama shook his head. "It's always Jin with you, isn't it?"
An hour later, the delicious smell of baked cookies wafted from the kitchen. Kazuya, who kept diligent watch on the oven, ran out to tell a napping Koyama.
"Ma-ma, finish!" he yelled into the elderly man's ear, causing poor Koyama to fall flat on his face from shock.
With his cookies safely packed, Kazuya and Koyama made their way to the playground, where they were to meet Jin and the other adults.
Jin had to get his flu vaccination shot, and everyone agreed it was better to have only one toddler crying.
Kazuya toddled up to Jin, who was sitting in the sandbox with red, puffy eyes.
"JinJin! Kazu made present for JinJin," Kazuya said animatedly, shoving the box of cookies into Jin's lap.
Jin stared at the box of heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies, pout still firmly on his face. "I'm not hungry, Kazu."
"But Ma-Ma said JinJin not happy. So Kazu make present. JinJin no want?" Kazuya asked, his little lips starting to quiver slightly.
Jin gave Kazuya a small smile. "I'll eat one, okay Kazu? Just because you made it."
Kazuya smiled, watching Jin put a cookie into his mouth. The four-year-old's eyes widened, and he took another bite.
"Delicious, Kazu!"
"JinJin happy?" Kazuya asked.
Jin beamed at the younger boy. "Now I'm happy. Because Kazu make me happy!"
Kazuya hugged Jin at the neck. "LoveJinJin!"
Lesson #27: Kazu's Song
Kazuya stumbled as he followed Jin, pulling on Jin's sleeve as he did, but the older boy just kept walking, looking ridiculously oblivious and happy.
"JinJin!" Kazuya called out.
JinJin didn't say anything, but kept humming under his breath, hand latching onto Kazu's and dragging him along.
"JinJin!"
More humming, only it had gotten louder.
Kazuya pouted, and drew his hand away from Jin's. The younger boy walked off, shoulders slumped and upset that Jin was ignoring him and sat in the corner of the play room, burying his face into his teddy bear.
Yamapi raised an eyebrow at this and a grin played out on his face as he heard what Jin was muttering and humming under his breath. His grandson could be such a baka sometimes.
"Kazu-chan~" he called out, "What're you doing in the corner there?" he asked, purposely raising his voice so that Jin could hear him. Jin perked up and peered at Yamapi strangely, "Kazu-chan not in corner...Kazu-chan right........" he trailed off when he realized with a horrified expression that Kazuya was no longer next to him.
"I LOST KAZU-CHAN" he wailed. Yamapi sighed and turned Jin's head to look at the corner.
Jin brightened and skipped over to Kazuya, who was still sulking.
"Kazu-chan~!" he said cheerfully, "Let's play"
Kazuya shook his head, face still buried in the fake fur of the teddy bear, "Kazu not like JinJin no more" he mumbled, looking up for a moment to shoot Jin a mad look with tears welling up in his eyes, "JinJin not listen to Kazu" he his his face in the teddy bear again.
Jin looked utterly crushed at those words and Yamapi almost laughed at the drama-like scene that was unfolding between the two year old and the four year old.
"Jin" he said, "Why don't you do what Ri-Ri taught you yesterday?" he asked with a grin, remembering watching Ryo and Jin from the doorway. They hadn't known he was there, or else Ryo would have stormed off embarassed.
Jin nodded excitedly, "Kazu-chan, listen to JinJin, okay?!" he asked.
He got no answer, but there was a shrug of Kazuya's shoulders which Jin decided was a 'yes'.
"Ri-Ri taught me a song!" Jin said proudly, "It's my song to kazu-chan!" he declared and began to chant under his breath, "kazu-chan, Kazu-chan, Kazu-chan, Kazu, Kazu, Kazu-chan, love you, love you, I love you Kazu-chan~" he grinned at Kazuya who was starting to sneak peeks at Jin as he sung.
Yamapi moved the phone camera in his hand closer to the toddlers. Jin serenading Kazuya was definitely something he wanted to watch over and over again, and possibly show all the other guys because it was fun to watch every sweet thing the little babies did.
" - love you, love you, I'll always love Kazu-chan~" he grinned when he saw Kazuya staring at him, no longer hiding his face.
"And that is Kazu's song!" he declared, "Because JinJin loves Kazu the most"
Kazuya's lip quivered and within a second, he had flung the teddy bear away and was hugging Jin, "Kazu love JinJin too!" he declared as he hugged Jin as tight as he could.
Jin beamed.
Lesson #28: The ABC’s of Love
Jin watched in fascination as Kazuya concentrated hard on his writing assignment.
The younger child had his tongue sticking out from one corner of his mouth, brows furrowed in absolute concentration.
Not even Jin's quiet calls of Kazuya's name managed to tear the toddler's attention away from the pencil and paper in front of him.
"Jin?" Ryo called out, wandering into the room. He was startled when a soft toy came flying to his stomach.
Looking up, he found Jin staring at him with a disapproving frown and a finger held up to his lips.
"Ri-Ri, shh! Kazu is doing homework," Jin reprimanded his grandfather. Ryo only managed to raise an eyebrow at Jin putting his hands on his hips.
"SHH!" Jin repeated, giving Ryo his best glare.
Ryo, more amused than angry, rolled his eyes and settled down opposite Kazuya.
Lying on his stomach, Ryo propped his head on his hands. Jin joined him in a heartbeat.
Half an hour later, Yamapi snuck in and joined the duo. Tatsuya, who walked in with Yamapi, rolled his eyes and took a snapshot of three idiots and one baby.
"Kazuya?" Tatsuya neared the toddler. "What are you doing?"
Kazuya looked up, brows still furrowed. "Tat-tat. Help," he pointed to the piece of paper. "Kazu don't know."
Before Tatsuya could answer, a loud shout came from Jin. "I'll help you, Kazu!"
Kazuya turned to the older boy. Immediately, a grin lit up his face. "JinJin help Kazu?" he asked, making Ryo shudder at the sugary sweetness of his voice.
"Of course. I'll help you with anything, Kazu," Jin proclaimed proudly, bouncing over.
Grinning happily, Kazuya held his little hand over Jin's ear and whispered excitedly.
When he was done, Jin had a ridiculously big grin on his face. Nodding wisely, he took the pencil from Kazuya's hand.
Kazuya clapped happily when Jin wrote out the word.
い。
Grabbing the pencil back, Kazuya took the paper and ran off to the other side of the room.
Before Jin could follow, Kazuya held out his hand, palm outstretched.
"JinJin no see. Secret!" Kazuya called out, a pout on his face.
Jin sat back down quietly. He waited patiently for Kazuya to finish whatever he was doing.
"Why's he never this obedient with us?" Yamapi whispered to Ryo.
Ryo shrugged. "Because we're not Kazuya?" he asked back. Yamapi and Tatsuya nodded in agreement.
"Kazu finish," Kazuya announced, putting the pencil away and standing up.
Jin immediately perked up, his eyes shining as Kazuya came back over.
Kazuya shoved the paper into Jin's face, causing the older child's eyes to cross due to the proximity.
い
Jin leaned back further.
あいじんじん
A smile broke out on everybody's face. Jin grabbed Kazuya into a deathhug. "JinJin love Kazuya too! Forever and ever and ever!"
Lesson #29: Sweet Tooth
Yamapi sighed as he looked over to the child sitting in the back of the car. Jin was pouting and sulking. The expression on his face said clearly that he thought he was a some kind of wounded hero. Yamapi paused. Make that a pouting wounded hero.
"Jin" he said. The four year old adamantly looked away, crossing his arms and refusing to look at Yamapi.
Once again, Yamapi cursed Ryo's ability to make him do all the not-fun things while Ryo got to do the fun things with Jin. It just wasn't fair. It wasn't like he wanted to do this.
"Jin" he said again, louder.
Jin began kicking the back of the driver seat.
"Jin!" Yamapi said loudly. He turned to look at the litte boy, "We're here" he said pointedly, "And don't kick my seat Jin"
Jin glared, but then he brightened when yamapi's words registered in his mind.
"Kazu?" he asked excitedly, forgetting to be angry with his grandfather.
"Yes" Yamapi sighed, "Kazuya"
"Kazu-chan!" Jin said excitedly, trying but failing to get his seatbelt off. He soon got entangled in them and it was all Yamapi could do not to laugh at the sight. He quickly untangled Jin and Jin just got out of the car and ran into the backyard of Ueda's house.
Yamapi rolled his eyes, wondering if he should be concerned that Jin always knew where Kazuya was somehow.
When he got to the backyard, he saw Jin sulking again. Puzzled, he looked at Kazuya who was blinking in confusion at Jin.
Tatsuya was kneeling down and saying something to Jin, to which Jin was glaring angrily at and kicking at the ground.
"Tat-Tat mean too!!" Jin claimed angrily, "Pi-pi and Tat-Tat are both mean!!"
"Jin...the dentist said you had a cavity" Yamapi tried to explain for what must have been the tenth time, "It's because you ate too much candy and Ri-Ri must not have made sure you brushed your teeth properly. You're not allowed candy for a little bit okay?"
"Why?" Jin asked rebelliously.
"Because if we give you candy, you'll stuff yourself on candy again, and get another cavity. This way, you'll learn not to eat so much candy"
"MEANIE!" Jin cried out and stormed off. Kazuya looked adorably confused but quickly followed, dragging his stuffed teddy bear along with him. Tatsuya and Yamapi sighed together.
"Put the candy on a high shelf" Yamapi advised, "That way, they can't try to get it"
"You know him so well" Tatsuya remarked dryly, "Should I be concerned that you know Kazuya will help too?"
"They tried it that time with the cookies remember?"
"How could I forget?" Tatsuya laughed.
Meanwhile, Jin had sat down on the ground and was pulling angrily at the grass. Kazuya plopped down next to him, propping his elbows up on Jin's lap, "JinJin"
"They're mean, Kazu" Jin said, his eyes welling up with tears, "They're really really really really really mean!" he cried, rubbing his eyes, "I want candy! MEANIE TAT-TAT AND PI-PI!"
"JinJin don't cry" Kazuya said pouting a little as he reached up to wipe away Jin's tears with his small fingers, "If JinJin want candy, Kazu get candy for JinJin!" he said brightly.
Jin shook his head solemnly, "Tat-Tat will put candy on the high shelf" he said dejectedly, but gave Kazuya a watery smile, "You'll fall and we need Ri-Ri's help to reach the high shelf" he pouted, "Want Ri-Ri; Ri-Ri not mean!"
Kazuya bit his lip and then he dug his hands into the pockets of the child sized hoodie he was wearing, "Kazu have..." he muttered under his breath, "Here JinJin!" he held out his hands with a bright, proud, beaming smile.
In his hands were many, brightly wrapped lollipops, and packets of gummy bears.
Jin's eyes widened, "candy!" he whispered in awe.
"candy" Kazuya nodded with a smile, "JinJin eat candy?"
"I love you Kazu-chan!!!" Jin squealed happily as he hugged Kazuya close to him. Some of the candy fell onto the ground but Jin didn't care. Kazuya was the best!!
Kazuya beamed, "Kazu love JinJin too!"
Lesson #30: My Angel, You Are Angel
"OHMYGOD!!!!" Yamapi high-pitched scream jolted Ryo out from his sleep. The Osaka man fell off the couch, where he had been napping.
Two seconds later found Ryo staring open-mouthed at a confused Kazuya at the front door. Tatsuya had his ears covered in annoyance.
Yamapi, well, Yamapi was sprawled on the floor with a wide grin on his face and stars in his eyes.
When he trusted his voice not to squeak, Ryo turned to Tatsuya. "What's this?"
"Tackey visited us last night," Tatsuya said, shrugging. "And you look very pretty," he added when Kazuya turned a questioning gaze to him.
Kazuya beamed and pushed past the stunned Ryo, running immediately to Jin's room.
"Kazu find JinJin. Okay, Ri-Ri?" he hollered as he tore into the house, dropping white feathers along the way.
Jin was buried under the covers, completely oblivious to the world.
In his dreams, he was a hero. The last samurai on the battlefield, with a pink dragon breathing fire at him.
He runs, and hears the captive princess call out his name when the dragon almost sits on him.
"JinJin!"
The dragon roars with frustration, and shakes its golden mane. Jin takes the chance and manages to nick the dragon's claw with his katana.
In reflex, the dragon lashes out, blindsiding Jin. The katana clatters to the side, and Jin finds himself sprawled on the ground, the wind knocked out of him.
The dragon was hopping around and whimpering, sucking at its bleeding claw.
"JinJin!" the voice of the princess called, next to his ear. Jin looked up, his vision blurry.
"JinJin! JinJin!" she continued to call, shaking him.
Jin closed his eyes for a moment, and when he reopened them, a sight so beautiful greeted him, it took his breath away.
An angelic face looked down on him, while white feathers fluttered around in the background.
"Princess?" Jin croaked out.
Kazuya's face came into focus. "JinJin?" the toddler said, head cocked to the side in confusion.
Jin's eyes widened and he scrambled up into a seating position. He grabbed Kazuya and clutched him close to his chest.
"Don't worry, Kazu! I'll protect you! I'll protect you forever and ever!"
Kazuya had no idea was was going on, but decided that Ki-Ki should visit more often and bring him more costumes to play with if it meant sharing more hugs with JinJin.
"Mm! JinJin Kazu hero! LoveJinJin!"
